The LeafFilter team is proud to announce another successful year of fundraising for the I Promise School in Akron! Since the LeBron James Family Foundation’s I Promise School opened in 2018, it has supported hundreds of Akron-area students by immersing them in STEM-based learning.
LeafFilter, based in Hudson, Ohio, has supported the school since its inception. This year, the LeafFilter team partnered with Kaulig Giving and the Lebron James Family Foundation, aiming to supply every student at the school with every item on their school supply list. As the I Promise School assists students from disadvantaged backgrounds in their studies, LeafFilter hopes to ease the financial burden many local families face at the start of each school year.
A team of LeafFilter volunteers, wearing masks and respecting social distancing, gathered at the Hudson office to assemble backpacks of supplies and to deliver them to the I Promise School in Akron the week of July 20. This year, LeafFilter employees raised more than $10,000 in donations and assembled circa 900 bags full of highlighters, notebooks, and more.

The I Promise School is truly a special place, both in the sense of the skills it teaches and in its fun approach to education.”
The I Promise School, supported by the LeBron James Family Foundation, was inspired by the difficulties James himself faced as a child. In addition to empowering young people with STEM-based learning, graduates are provided with free tuition to the University of Akron. More information can be found on their website.
